Can Alex Tanney shock the Buffalo Bills, NFL?

Growing up I was always told that getting an education and going to college will help you get any job that you desire. I was told that you could be whatever you wanted but little did I know that reality shows and Youtube would be created. You can now skip the education part by making a video, posting it to Youtube, hope it goes viral and your famous. Of course sometimes people post to Youtube in hopes of getting noticed, sometimes it doesn’t work but for unknown Monmouth quarterback Alex Tanney it worked and has been noticed by some NFL teams especially the Buffalo Bills.

QBs Dixon and Volek on Bills Radar?

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Buffalo Bills would like to add another veteran quarterback to the roster to create some competition at that position going into training camp. Bills General Manager Buddy Nix stated before the draft that he would “like to draft one (quarterback) every year”. That plan obviously did not unfold as zero of the Bills nine draft selections this past weekend will play under center. However, the Bills did pick up undrafted rookie free agent Aaron Corp, the former signal caller for the Richmond Spiders.

A hidden gem can be described as something that shines but was hidden underneath and is unable to show its shiny coat until found. Once upon a time it was Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick who was that hidden gem as he sat underneath Trent Edwards and a struggling Buffalo offense.

Bills’ Fitzpatrick Lobbies for Stevie Johnson

Stevie Johnson 300x230 Bills Fitzpatrick Lobbies for Stevie JohnsonIf Ryan Fitzpatrick would have scored a rushing touchdown he might as well should have lifted his shirt with “Bring Stevie Back” written on it.

After another confusing season for the Buffalo Bills and now quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is pleading to  management to bring back the flamboyant Stevie Johnson who is asking for 7.5 million per-year.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen and I’m not the decision maker… but they know I want him back, he knows I want him back, he wants to be here,’’ said Fitzpatrick as Bills players emptied their lockers at Ralph Wilson Stadium. “We’ll see how it turns out but I’m a better player with Steve on my team…I want my best receiver back.’’

Johnson was not seen after his benching against the New England Patriots.

It’s hard to believe, but in the 52-year history of the Buffalo Bills they have never had back-to-back 1,000 yard receivers until 2012 and Stevie Johnson. Not Andre Reed, Don Beebe, Eric Moulds, Lee Evans or even James Lofton could even accomplish the feat.

Johnson has stated he would prefer to re-sign with Buffalo, but it’s unclear whether that will happen after talks broke down a month ago when the receiver rejected the team’s latest offer.

“Walking on the field, walking off the field, just looking around and looking at the crowd was kind of crazy because it seemed like four years went by pretty fast.” said Johnson after the Bills final home game of the 2011 season.

Johnson leads the team in receptions and has joined Eric Moulds as the only other Bills receiver to have 75 in consecutive seasons.

Stevie can’t see why the Bills would let him test the market especially after they signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a long-term deal.

“With Fitz signing his deal, you would think they would have a one-two punch,” Johnson said, referring to Fitzpatrick signing a six-year, $59 million contract extension in October. “You would think they’ll keep us together.”

No matter what happens Stevie Johnson has left his mark and the Bills faithful love it.

Second Thoughts? Bills Can Walk Away From Fitzpatrick Contract

107343730 crop 340x234 300x206 Second Thoughts? Bills Can Walk Away From Fitzpatrick ContractJust in case the Buffalo Bills are regretting the decision to give quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick a six-year, $59 million deal they can walk away from nearly $49 million of it after the end of this season.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk , per a league source, the Bills could trade or cut Fitzpatrick before the seventh day of the 2012 league year and owe him nothing further than the $3.22 million base salary he was already due to earn in 2011 and the $10 million signing bonus he was paid upon inking the new deal last month.

On the seventh day of the 2012 league year, the Bills owe Fitzpatrick a $5 million option bonus.  If they don’t exercise the option, Fitzpatrick’s base salary for 2012 would increase from $2.8 million to $7.8 million, and it would be fully guaranteed for injury only.

In 2013, Fitzpatrick has a $3 million roster bonus, which also is guaranteed for injury only, along with a base salary of $4.25 million, $3.2 million of which is guaranteed for injury only.

In 2014, there’s another $3 million roster bonus (non-guaranteed) and a non-guaranteed base salary of $4.35 million.

For 2015, 2016, and 2017 Fitzpatrick has non-guaranteed base salaries of $7.2 million, $8.75 million, and $9.45 million, respectively.

Nothing has been said about the Buffalo Bills and the status of Ryan Fitzpatrick but the Fitz-Magic has all but ended during a three game losing streak.

Fitzpatrick since signing the contract, has thrown seven interceptions to only two touchdowns. He is only completing 55% of his passes while during the previous three games he was completing 75%.

One of the most glaring stats is also the average yards per pass. During the three games completing 75%  he was averaging 8.3 yards per pass while during the three game skid only 5.4 yards per pass. While it may not seem like much it shows signs of a glaring problem for the Buffalo Bills, the offensive line.

The key to Buffalo’s fast start was the protection they gave to Fitzpatrick which enabled him to have time to throw. With the injuries to the line things have been shuffled around and it has showed drastically in the passing game.
