Drudge Match: Touchdown Tom vs Tebow Time
The amount of Tim Tebow loving and hating is the most I’ve seen on behalf of an athlete in a long, long time. There really isn’t too much middle ground. He’s loved or he’s hated. On the surface he’s loved by the layperson who happens to see clips on ESPN of him coming from behind to win games or he’s loved by moms and grandmothers who see him on Extra or Entertainment Tonight admitting his virginity. Then of course there is the boobery, the talking heads on each set of pre and post game analysis, from Fox to ESPN to NBC to CBS and even the NFL Network, they all have at least one, who claim Tebow has the intangible “it” even though his stats and his play have yet to show it. Sure his win in overtime versus the Pittsburgh Steelers was nice (notice I said “his” win and not the Broncos win) and possibly shows a glimpse of what he’s capable of, but was that really his win?
Tom Brady on the other hand is usually hated by fans of the other AFC East teams, Pittsburgh Steelers fans, and san Diego Chargers fans. They’ll hate him because he leads his team to victory and is extremely squeaky clean, without anything in the headlines to grasp, they hate him for being him. No rape or sexual assault charges, no motorcycle crashes, no strip club shootings, and no performance enhancing allegations. The worst thing about Tom Brady is he had a love triangle and is building a ginormous mansion. What a bastard. Another thing not too many people realize is that Brady’s parents are quite the religious fanatics as well. Tim Tebow is extremely quick to thank his parents and his god for everything and it’s been a media circus since his days in Florida. Brady doesn’t wax poetic on-and-on about his upbringing and his god and his parents, so clearly, he’s the anti-Christ.
Now on to the unabashed, hard-nosed football analysis everyone came here to read. The Denver Broncos got beat, quite embarrassingly I must say, during the last meeting they had versus the New England Patriots. Football is a hard sport to predict, and with the early sloppy play the Patriots have exhibited over the final few weeks, it’s not as much of a sure thing the Patriots win as I thought before their last meet-up. The Patriots sat home last week and watched who their next opponents would be at the comfort of their own homes, or if you believe this travesty, they watched from the sidelines with expensive camera gear and freelance photographer badges. Mike Shanahan is long gone but his offensive line schemes to make anyone a 1,000+ yard rusher seem to be in place, as the oft-injured and previous back-up Willis McGahee racked up 1,000+ yards, only his fourth of his career and first since 2007. Plus Tim Tebow is known for his scrambling abilities and making something out of nothing when the pocket collapses. As suspect as the Patriots defense has been all season long, their front-seven is pretty good. But, during their last meeting, the Patriots allowed 252 yards on the ground. Containing the pocket and making Tebow throw, should be, and with my astute forecasting ability, will be, the name of the game for the Patriots this weekend. The Patriots’ offense on the other hand, will have close to the 451 yards of total offense they had back on December 18th.
The local meteorologists haven’t predicted fire and brimstone for Saturday evening, so the chances of a Patriots win seem pretty good so far. The power of Brady compels us.
