Patriots’ Josh McDaniels looks forward to WR competition
New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has been back with the team for a few months now, but spoke with the media for the first time Friday, at the opening of rookie camp. The Patriots offense was largely a well-oiled machine in 2011, but it did lack a deep threat. Currently, New England has 12 receivers on the roster, which will lead to some competition during training camp. Every coach likes to have a little competition to keep his players on their toes and at their sharpest. And McDaniels is certainly no exception to that.
Ochocinco Miserable During Media Day Interview
Chad Ochocinco, New England Patriots fifth receiver has been an icon of crazy antics over the years, but according to Gregg Rosenthal of PFT he seemed miserable just waiting for the experience to end.
Place yourself in Chad’s shoes. Once a productive receiver time has caught up with him.
Ochocinco was downcast during the time we spent around him, seemingly miserable and waiting for the experience to end. He was asked if he was happy.
“You’re looking for the crazy Chad. He hasn’t been here all year,” Ochocinco said while staring down the reporter who asked the question. “Why would I be different now?”
Asked what was different about this year: “I’m wearing a jersey. That’s the only difference.”
On whether he was disappointed about his lack of production: “I don’t control that. I never have. Never been able to.”
I knew he didn’t want to answer silly questions, so I asked him about the intensity of the Super Bowl practices thus far.
“It’s been . . . practice,” Ochocinco said with a sigh after a long pause. “It’s been practice.”
Aaron Moon of The Penalty Flag asked, if Ochocinco could be an X-factor in Super Bowl XLVI.
“During the Patriots playoff run, Ochocinco has only been on the field for one play. If the Patriots are going to beat the Giants look for Ochocinco to come up big in the game. He is the one deep threat that can stretch the field for the Patriots and could serve as the perfect wrinkle for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady to implement with hopes of catching the Giants off guard. From the OCNN to the X Factor, Ochocinco could very well go from Super Bowl joke to Super Bowl MVP and redeem himself for a very un-Ocho-like season.”

Could Ochocinco be the X Factor in the Super Bowl?
When the New England Patriots take the field on February 5th against the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI it will be Chad Ochocinco’s third trip to the big game. What? You didn’t know Ochocinco had been to the big game already? Well the fact of the matter is that he has – twice; just not as a player.
Ochocinco is the former lead correspondent for the “Ochocinco News Network.” The OCNN, as it was known, was a joint venture with Motorola in which Ochocinco crashed Super Bowl events and pumped out insight via an array of social media outlets to fans.
Of course coming to New England, Chad had to curtail his larger than life persona to fit in as a Patriot. Where he has managed to keep his antics in check his play has suffered as he only caught 15 receptions for 276 yards and 1 touchdown during the regular season. During the Patriots playoff run, Ochocinco has only been on the field for one play.
If the Patriots are going to beat the Giants look for Ochocinco to come up big in the game. He is the one deep threat that can stretch the field for the Patriots and could serve as the perfect wrinkle for Bill Belichick and Tom Brady to implement with hopes of catching the Giants off guard.

Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco to Have Neighboring Lockers Again?
Drew Rosenhaus is no stranger to drumming up interest for his marquee client, Terrell Owens. At a recent tryout, an injured Owens showcased his skills for a total of zero teams. Rumors at the time were swirling that Canadian Football League teams were interested but no one from the NFL was willing to give him a shot.
Fast forward to Thanksgiving weekend and now Drew Rosenhaus is saying, to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, one team is very interested in #81. Then Rosenhaus is seen on the sidelines of the New England Patriots before their game with the Philadelphia Eagles. The wide receiver position isn’t such a pressing need for the Patriots that signing a 37-year-old (will be 38 in a week,) who is coming off knee surgery no less, that this should even be considered news. Wes Welker and the tight end tandem of Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez has proved to be potent enough and the supporting cast of Deion Branch, Julian Edelman, and Chad Ochocinco has filled admirably when Tom Brady calls their number.
Whenever Terrell Owens sneezes, the news vans with giant satellite dishes resting on top from Bristol, Connecticut will come rolling in. The same network that is single handily responsible for at least one of Bret Favre’s comebacks is also trying to get the league to bring back someone who has spent the last two seasons in NFL obscurity, otherwise known as Buffalo and Cincinnati.
Could T.O. help the Patriots? Sure. Would it be worth the more-than-league-minimum it would take to acquire him plus the added media coverage each at every practice and press conference? No. T.O. isn’t a bad guy. He doesn’t get arrested for DUI’s or for murdering humans or for murdering dogs. He’s just really into himself. And I, for one, don’t really see how that plays into the hands of a team that started the craze of being introduced as a team. Plus, he cannot play corner. Which is what the team shouldbe pining to improve.
