RGIII gets new nickname ‘The Arm’
Robert Griffin III has certainly made a big splash and a big impression with his Washington Redskins teammates, coaches, and certainly the fans. Everyone is certainly waiting in anticipation for the 2012 regular season to get underway and see just how good that RGIII is going to be. Alot of Griffin’s fellow teammates have said that they are impressed by his work ethic and Mike Shannahan has said that RGIII is coachable and is willing to learn the NFL scheme of football. Griffin has also earned a new nickname and it was given to him by his fellow quarterbacks in Rex Grossman and fellow 2012 draft pick Kirk Cousins. His compadres simply call him ‘The Arm’.
Grossman says that in the nearly ten years that he has been in the National Football League that he has not seen a rookie QB throw with the strength and accuracy as that of Robert Griffin III. ‘His arm, is more of like a whip. I mean he can run to his left or to his right and it is nothing for him to throw the ball 70 yards on the run and the thing is that it is on the mark each and everytime. It is certainly impressive for a rookie’ says Grossman. Cousins has also gave rave reviews about the accuracy of Griffin saying ‘he can put the ball into tight windows’. Tight end Logan Paulsen has said that he had to get some time to get adjusted to RGIII’s throwing prowess. ‘He thows the ball so hard that it doesn’t rise or fall. It doesn’t have any arc. It just comes right in. It took some time to get used to that’ commented the TE.
The veteran Grossman and reigning starter though is the one who is giving the most praises to The Arm. ‘There are alot of plays that we run that call for a bootleg and to run to your left and the recievers cross downfield. There will be times where he will be asked to throw the ball downfield 70 or 80 yards but going in the other direction. With athleticism and arm strength he is going to be able to make big plays. With his speed, he will defnitely make some impressive plays. Not just running, but when a play breaks down, he will be able to make some big plays’ added Grossman.
With organized team activities ongoing and the Redskins getting themselves ready for summer camp, you can bet that alot of attention will be focused on Griffin. His teammates have also been quick to talk about the demeanor of RGIII saying that he has been able to handle the pressure well and that can be attributed to a strong family background being raised by two US Army Master Seargeants. Listening to the praises that has been given to him, Redskins fans will certainly be in for a big season and that season will be a success due to the one and only man they call, The Arm.
