Greg Jennings on his way out of Green Bay
In case you have not seen his commercials, Jennings is currently pimping out Old Spice and the NFL’s own ticket exchange website through television, but most importantly, he’s pimping his own brand out.
That last fact is very important because Jennings will be a free agent at the end of this season and needs the rest of the world to know him because he will not be playing in Green Bay next year. With the depth that the Packers’ have at wide receiver, it doesn’t make sense for them to pay Jennings the money he will almost assuredly be asking for. So now is the time for him to market his own name and to make his next contract a hefty one because he didn’t do it on the field.
Jennings finished the year with a career-low 36 receptions, 366 yards and four touchdowns. The question remains, is he an actual No. 1 receiver or is another team going to overpay?
He has been more of a product of the Packers’ system than a superstar wide-out Over the last couple years, he has even lost his status as the number one receiver on his own team to Jordy Nelson (also a free-agent). With his production on the field lacking, he has to make up for it in other areas, and evidently for him that means getting his face in commercials.
In the advertisements that Jennings is currently in, he has scored two touchdowns. One of those touchdowns even comes with a bed attached to his waist. Unfortunately that will be the last touchdown scored in a Packers jersey.
