Dolphins kicker on suicide watch?
Miami Dolphins kicker Dan Carpenter missed two “make-able” field goals in a 23-20 overtime loss to the New York Jets and after listening to his post-game remarks you might want to take any sharp items away from him.
Understanding the importance of the loss for the Dolphins, Carpenter was apologetic and depressed after the game.
“I let the team down. First of all there shouldn’t have been an overtime. We should never have even been there,” Carpenter said. “I just didn’t come through. It’s something you don’t want to do through, but you know there is nothing I can do about it now.”
The Jets win brings them to 2-1 on the season and a potential first place tie in the AFC East, while the Dolphins quickly sink to the bottom.
“They were make-able,” Carpenter said about the 47-yarder he missed in the fourth-quarter, which would have put the Dolphins up 20-13, and the 48-yarder he missed in overtime.
The last kick would have sealed a Dolphins win, but Carpenter missed it left.
Carpenter said he “knucked” both kicks, but claimed that’s making “excuses.”
Dolphins fans must hope he finds a way to bounce back. Missed kicks can play mind games with a kicker after a performance like this.
