Wait what? Rex is sticking with Sanchez
Just when the Jacksonville Jaguars thought they had a chance at selling out the stadium this Sunday, Rex Ryan named Mark Sanchez the starting QB for Week 14 spoiling the return of Tim Tebow to the Florida area.
Mark Sanchez, who was gloriously benched this Sunday after throwing three interceptions against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday was replaced by Greg McElroy. The third-string quarterback came in to save the day and received a standing ovation at MetLife.
The decision to start Sanchez has a lot more to do with money than it does with logic. Last week I posted an article about the Jets QB contract controversy. After analyzing both the contracts of Sanchez and Tim Tebow, it was clear that the Jets are scared Tebow will do well and unlock a series of escalators in his contract. On the other hand, Sanchez was far too expensive for the Jets not to play him. And after all, the management is failing to admit that resigning the struggling QB was an epic mistake. This season, he’s completed just 55 percent of his passes, and thrown 13 interceptions to 12 touchdowns.
The better option would have been to start Tebow or McElroy. I had my fingers crossed for a Tebow homecoming start. But as usual, the Jets leave me disappointed.
