Is Tim Tebow the quarterback to compete with Freeman, Bucs?
Tim Tebow was destined to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, if you listened to everyone in the media. Yet, it didn’t take long for new Jaguars General Manager David Caldwell to shut down any talk of Tim Tebow coming home. “I can’t imagine a scenario where he’d be a Jacksonville Jaguar,” Caldwell said of Tebow at an introductory press conference. Ouch, the final destination for Tim Tebow it seemed to save his NFL career and the door closed just as quickly it was opened. Don’t fear Florida, there is a possibility Tim could still come back to the sunshine state for the 2013 season. Greg Schiano has come out and said that he will find another quarterback to compete with Freeman for the starting job. On top of that, it has also come out that the Buccaneers do not plan on extending Freeman’s contract, so it seems the franchise is ready to move on from Freeman. Enter Tim Tebow.
Now based off the year Tebow had with the New York Jets, Freeman shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Though, if Tebow is given a fair chance to win the starting job in Tampa from Freeman, then Freeman has to watch out. When Tim Tebow took over for the Denver Broncos in 2011, they were 1-4 and Tebow brought them from the basement of the AFC West to the top of the AFC West and into the playoffs. Whether some kind of magic was involved or not, all Tebow did was win games. Sure he may have sucked in the first three-quarters, but it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. While Von Miller and the defense was able to ensure that Tim Tebow had a chance to win games late in the fourth quarter, Tebow still had the ability to take his offense down the field to get in scoring range.
You can say what you want about Tim Tebow, but this guy can play football. You just don’t throw one pass that ends up being a touchdown in the playoffs without being a good quarterback. Every time the Denver defense made a stop and got the ball back, Tebow worked the offense in a way that Kyle Orton couldn’t. Remember, Tebow took over the same team Kyle Orton had at 1-4 and took them to the divisional round of the playoffs. Tebow showed me something in that playoff win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he has “IT”. He can be a Franchise quarterback, and go ahead Tebow haters laugh at that thought. Yet, if Tebow had the right team, with the right coaching staff willing to coach him and make him a better quarterback, he could once again do what he did for the Broncos for another team. The question becomes, would the Buccaneers be a good fit?

No!!!!!
Better than Freeman for sure. We’ve wasted enough time trying to bring Josh along and he is as inconsistent as ever. Give Tim a shot. The bottom line is attendance would be through the roof.
If filling the stands is the concern then Tebow is only a temporary fix. Winning games fills stadiums for the long term. I’m happy the Jags shot this down immediatly so we don’t have to deal with the insanity NY had last year. Tebow can’t make it as a back up because the media won’t allow him to stand on the sideline and wait till he’s needed
The Jets encouraged the media; they made a lot of the circus themselves. The media hype in Denver was about the team winning with Tim; that is what his next team is facing.
The insanity last year was of the NY media’s making and the Jet’s, not Tebow’s. Filling the stands is a big deal here in TPA since about only one home game wasn’t blacked out this year. The new coach is still a work in progress with many veterans starting to sour on him. Freeman is not a franchise quarterback and I’m not saying Tebow is, but without a chance we’ll never know. Rather than continue w/Josh let’s give Tim the ball and see where it takes us. BTW All fixes are temporary.
I’ve been hoping for this scenario. What a great way to get the stadium filled again too! It’s win win for the team, the fans, and the owners. Can you imagine the offensive playbook for Josh Freeman with Doug Martin AND Tim Tebow in the backfield, add in Dallas Clark to mix it up and then include Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams in receiving – THAT’S a whole lot of offense!!!
ridiculous. the broncos offense avg 3 points less a game with tebow than with orton and orton was horrible . maybe worthy of a back up in canada at best . you obviously dont know much about football
This is just pure speculation because the team happens to in the same state he went to school. Tebow backed up a guy that had a horrible season and got hardly any play time, so why would the bucs bring him in to push their starter. If they want someone to compete they’ll probably draft a mid to late round QB.
Whatever you think of Tebow, what happened with the Jets had nothing whatsoever to do with him and everything to do with Rex Ryan not wanting him even if it meant they lost; Rex is connected to Sanchez at the hip and at the tattoo.
I’m all for Tim to come to Tampa. I also don’t think Freeman deserves to be dumped on. Put these two young guys together with a winning attitude and a team will develop around them that can win. They are both young and can contribute for a long time. Go Bucs.
get rid of freeman!!! tampa does not need him;
Tampa has not made any mention of acquiring Tebow.. I don’t think anyone in Tampa has even said the name Tebow under any circumstance. Media needs to get a life and quit starting rumors.
I’m not laughing.
The Jets screwed Tim Tebow. Oddly enough I was never a fan, his whole story kinda turned me off, I was tired of hearing about it. But then the Jets wasted a year of his life, denied him opportunity, and devalued his standing in the NFL. He is owed another chance to prove himself, an opportunity to grow.
“Yet, if Tebow had the right team, with the right coaching staff willing to coach him and make him a better quarterback, he could once again do what he did for the Broncos for another team.”
Indeed!
