Tennessee Titans in chaos

On Sunday there were high hopes that the firing of offensive coordinator Chris Palmer would have sparked the Tennessee Titans play on the field. Could that have happened? I guess we will not know until next season. The Titans were already in need of some talent at the offensive line position and we saw two veterans go down in Sunday’s game. Not a good sign for the remainder of the season.

After a failed attempt to find a spark and poor protection up front, the Titans now have to answer questions of their second year quarterback Jake Locker. Primetime shows on sports networks like espn and nfl network are questioning the readiness of Jake Locker now. I find this notion to absurd. Locker has provided the spark for the Titans and has showed he is capable. His main flaws that show are the inability to finish drives on a regular basis. This is something that should not be a major concern until year four begins.

The major concern that should be questioned is the protection and the guys left to provide that protection. Locker may have flaws as a second year quarterback but for the first time in a long time the Titans showed weakness in pass protection. While it may be understandable given that they lost two veterans during the game, it still needs to become a non issue and fast. The owner is not the only one displeased with the play on the field. The fans are becoming increasingly restless with the amount of losses piling up. When Fisher left there was a cry of hope coming from the fans. While Fisher was loved and adored, he had gotten to a stage of mediocrity. 8-8 or 9-7 every year gets old fast. Not many fan basis gets a team and in the first two years get to watch their team go to the Superbowl. Since that time the production of wins has steadily gone up and down without playoff winning results.

Hopefully with a head coach and an offensive line coach, both being hall of famers, they can find the right formula to give the new OC a chance to find a rhythm in offense. This can still be a season were fans can see positive growth of players becoming a team and their talents shine bright. Unfortunately, it looks as if that window is closing fast and we are watching chaos more than a team building for a brighter tomorrow.
