Randy Moss: From Freak to ‘T. Rex’

Randy Moss: From Freak to ‘T. Rex’

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Randy Moss used to be known as the “freak” in his younger years, because of his freakish athleticism and speed. But his new nickname should be “T.Rex”, because of his ancient age, and lack of ability to go get the ball at its highest point.

Randy Moss Randy Moss: From Freak to T. RexAfter examining Moss’ play on the 49ers this season, and Super Bowl XLVII, showed that he doesn’t extend his arms to catch the ball anymore. He looks like a T.Rex, his arms as always compacted, and catches throws with his body.

For a wide receiver who proclaimed himself the greatest wide receiver in NFL history during Super Bowl week. You would have to believe that Moss knows how to catch the ball like a professional.

It’s debatable whether Colin Kaepernick’s interception during the 1st half of Super Bowl XLVII could have been prevented if Moss made an effort to go up, and catch the pass, but most 49ers fans know Moss didn’t do what he was supposed to do. At least make an effort.

Moss has been criticized in the past for his lack of effort on teams varying from the Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans, but to proclaim yourself as the best is laughable when you see how he plays. Jerry Rice may have gotten slower in his elder years, but you can’t fault him for effort.

Moss will at least be off of the 49ers hopefully this offseason, and the nightmare of his “T.Rex” arms will be gone for good. Who knows what the 49ers could have accomplished if Moss actually made an effort to catch the ball the right way, but enough is enough.

The 49ers need to let Moss become extinct, because his “T.Rex” act isn’t going to fly in San Francisco.
