Could the Panthers trade Jonathan Stewart for Revis?
The Carolina Panthers have a number of capable running backs, but sometimes there can be too much of a good thing.
The New York Jets have a glaring need for a starting running back and Jonathan Stewart can be that player. In return, the Panthers defense could be boosted by one of the top corner’s in the NFL.
With new General Manager David Gettleman calling the shots, he’s left with an interesting decision to make about DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.
Jonathan Stewart, missed seven games this season is scheduled for arthroscopic surgery on his left ankle. He signed a five-year, $36.5 million contract extension this last August and finished the season only carrying for 336 yards and a touchdown. The surgery should help him further avoid any issues with his ankle.
If something like this were to be considered it would be important to try in advance to re-sign Darrelle Revis who is in his last year of his current contract.
After-all, it’s why the Jets are ridding themselves of him. They believe they have no chance to re-sign him. Whoever does acquire Revis will want to make sure they can come to an agreement on some type of extension.
