Have we seen the last of London Fletcher?
Have Washington Redskins’ fans seen the last of their defensive and team captain in London Fletcher? This is certainly a question that should be on any ‘Skins fans mind this offseason. Fletcher was named an alternate for the Pro Bowl but with several of the San Francisco 49′ers Pro Bowler’s unable to make the trip to Hawaii due a much bigger game this coming Sunday in New Orleans, Fletcher made the trip to the NFC/AFC all-star showcase and was able to play. The NFC put on an awesome offensive display in the game as they were able to topple the AFC by a score of 62-35. London Fletcher ended up with four solo tackles during the game and it now brings up the question: Was the Pro Bowl the last time that London Fletcher will suit up in the NFL?
London Fletcher has just finished his 15th season in 2012 and is well-known for his consecutive games played streak and most of all for his high level of play, even into his late 30′s. Fletcher led the Redskins again in tackles in 2012 and was able to get five interceptions as well. Fletcher is arguably the most respected defensive player in the NFL for his toughness and durability and the biggest thing about him is that he is a certain class act and for that he should become a surefire Hall of Famer. 2013 would be Fletcher’s 16th season in the NFL and the big factor of London Fletcher coming back next year will not be because of his ability, it will be all about his determination and if he is willing to sacrifice himself for another season in pursuit of a possible Super Bowl trophy.
It is for that reason that is reasonable to believe that London Fletcher will be back in a Redskins uniform next season. Fletcher tasted the thrill of a Super Bowl win with the St. Louis Rams early in his career and he can certainly sense it now with the Washington Redskins. Despite some key injuries in Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker, the Redskins defense was able to prevail under Jim Haslett’s scheme in 2012 and they were rewarded with their first NFC East title since 1999. With Orakpo and Carriker coming back and another year of experience for young stars such as Ryan Kerrigan and Jarvis Jenkins, the Redskins defense is looking solid for 2013 and London Fletcher knows that. He knows that with RG3 and Alfred Morris leading a well scoring offense, the defense can carry their end of the bargain and that will translate into a world championship caliber team.
Have we seen the last of London Fletcher in the NFL? Did London Fletcher have his curtain call in the Pro Bowl this past Sunday in Hawaii? The answer to that question can only be answered by Fletcher himself but with his drive and determination and the prospect of him being able to play for another Super Bowl title, the answer is certainly leaning towards London Fletcher returning to the Washington Redskins defense for 2013 and possibly for a couple more years after that.

I think London Fletcher is definitely one of the greatest linebackers of all time. I hope he comes back for one more season.
