Greg McElroy shows how Jets players disrespect Rex Ryan

Greg McElroy1 300x200 Greg McElroy shows how Jets players disrespect Rex RyanNew York Jets quarterback Greg McElroy appeared on ESPN‘s Colin Cowherd and it was a caller who would notice something very interesting about the interview.

Colin asked McElroy a number of questions regarding Mark Sanchez, Rex Ryan and his emotions of the season. He also touched on the 2010 National Championship Alabama Crimson Tide team.

For those that don’t remember, McElroy played four seasons under head coach Nick Saban and led the team to a National Championship win over Texas.

When speaking about his former coach Nick Saban he referred to him as Coach Saban, but when talking about his current head coach he called him Rex.

Even Colin Cowherd didn’t pick up on this one. It would be a caller after the interview who brought it to his attention.

Is this a perfect example of how members of the New York Jets don’t respect their head coach Rex Ryan?

It’s believed Ryan is players coach. Someone who the players love and warm up to even though his tough exterior usually shines through. But, doesn’t this show the lack of respect they have for him by calling him Rex instead of Coach Ryan?

Why call Nick Saban, Coach Saban if you aren’t going to call Rex Ryan, Coach Ryan?

  1. I’ve noticed that a lot of players refer for Rex Ryan as “Rex” rather than “Coach Ryan.” It’s a very good point.

  2. Maybe it’s because when McElroy played for Saban he was an 18-22 kid/student. He is now a professional quarterback and more importantly in regard to this discussion – a man.
