Chiefs switch back to Quinn; Prolong the inevitable

Brady Quinn 300x199 Chiefs switch back to Quinn; Prolong the inevitableBrady Quinn is set to take the field to replace Matt Cassell who has struggled for the Kansas City Chiefs most of the season.

Quinn was not cleared to participate following a concussion, but did practice during the week.

The switching back and forth between Quinn and Cassell doesn’t leave much hope for the Chiefs, who have quickly become one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2012.

The Chiefs training staff has been relaying information to Dr. Micky Collins per an ESPN.com report. He is one of the leading experts in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of athletes who have suffered concussions. Collins helped design the ImPACT test now used by many professional sports leagues, including the NFL, to assess concussions and determine when an injured athlete can safely return to play.

Head coach Romeo Crennel said they’ll make a determination by Sunday whether Quinn is available.

Meanwhile Matt Cassel is having one of the worst seasons of his career. Coming into this week,  he’s completing 58 percent of his throws with a quarterback rating of 66.6, and has only thrown six touchdown passes with 12 interceptions.

Odds are the Chiefs will be given the number one pick in the 2013 NFL draft and with Cassell and Quinn no longer the answer the inevitable can begin.

Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson?

Is there any doubt one of these players will be the next franchise quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs?
