Browns, Jimmy Haslam hope to be road warriors
Christmas has come early for Cleveland Browns’ fans in two forms. First, the Cleveland Browns were handed a gift wrapped win from their hated rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, thanks in large part to the Browns getting eight turnovers. The second way will be revealed on December 4th when “‘NFL Road Tested: The Cleveland Browns” premieres on the Travel Channel.
The upcoming series will focus on the day to day operations of the Cleveland Browns and how much is needed to get the team ready for games on the road. It is an interesting move by new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam to help gain more exposure for the Browns who are the heart and soul of Northeast Ohio. The only question is, will this exposure help the Browns’ fan base understand all that goes into getting a team ready to play or will it expose the many shortcomings that most fans believe the Browns’ have? For Haslam’s sake, it better be the former.
Since their return in 1999, the Browns’ have given their fans very little to be happy about but the new owner has pumped life back into the faith of the faithful. However, Jimmy Haslam could cause more of an uproar if the fans who watch, which will be a lot as the Browns’ have many ‘Browns’ Backers Clubs’ all over the world, do not like what they see in the teams’ day to day operations.
It is no secret that the majority of Browns’ fans dislike most of the current coaching staff and if this show does not paint them in a good light, then the fans will be even more vocal in their desire to find a head coach who is a proven winner. Either way, good or bad, ‘NFL Road Tested: Cleveland Browns’ should make for some interesting television. But if you ask me, the next show on the Browns’ should be centered on the characters that go tailgating before their home games. That would be far more interesting and entertaining.
