Brent Grimes may not fit in the Falcons plans

Brent Grimes may not fit in the Falcons plans

The Atlanta Falcons have been here before. Brent Grimes is slated for free agency in 2013, the same result after slapping a franchise tag on the cornerback in 2012.

Brent Grimes Brent Grimes may not fit in the Falcons plansGrimes played only one whole game for the Falcons this season before ending his season with a torn Achilles tendon.

The undersized corner at 5’10, excels in bump-and-run coverage and is on of the top corners on the market.

A number of teams, including the New York Jets if they move Darrelle Revis, could be willing to take on a contract of Grimes.

After trading only a seventh round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for Asante Samuel and the emergence of Robert McClain, it seems that Grimes may not be worth the price tag. Add in the worry of his recuperation from injury and it seems foolish for the Falcons to pony up the money needed to hold on to Grimes.

A torn Achilles not only ends and athlete’s season, it can also end a career.

Grimes will have to prove he’s healthy before any team goes after him, but the long-term deal he was searching for is not going to be as big as he once hoped
