Better without Cutler, think again Bears

Better without Cutler, think again Bears

Sometimes as fans we tend to take things for granted. One bad play, interception, or interview and suddenly a player is nothing but a bum. Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears is one of those quarterbacks who gets a bad rap at times. His attitude portrayed can sometimes rub people the wrong way and cause them to believe the Bears may be better off without him.

Here’s a look at 15 NFL teams that would be better today if Jay Cutler was their quarterback.

  1. Buffalo Bills: Jay Cutler would be a huge upgrade over Ryan Fitzpatrick who had 23 interceptions in 2012.
  2. Miami Dolphins: Ryan Tannehill is the future but plug Jay Cutler into the picture and you can’t say they wouldn’t be better for at least the first few years.
  3. New York Jets: Anyone would be better…
  4. Cincinnati Bengals: Sure, Andy Dalton has been a solid quarterback but could you imagine Cutler’s arm with A.J. Green’s speed?
  5. Cleveland Browns: Old man Weeden is not the answer for the future. Tim Tebow put up better numbers.
  6. Jacksonville JaguarsAnything is better than Blaine Gabbert’s 70.2 quarterback rating, but he is also only averaging a little over five yards per pass.
  7. Tennessee Titans: Jake Locker is only completing half his passes and barely beat out the 70 year-old Matt Hasselbeck.
  8. Kansas City Chiefs: One can argue the Chiefs might need more help than a QB, but Matt Cassel lost his job to Brady Quinn…Brady Quinn!
  9. Oakland Raiders: USC quarterbacks just don’t pan out in the NFL for very long. On paper Palmer looks solid, but his interceptions are too costly.
  10. San Diego Chargers: Philip Rivers went from being one of the elite quarterbacks to a complete question mark in a years time.
  11. Philadelphia Eagles: Nick Foles was handed the keys to the corvette and couldn’t get it to start.
  12. Minnesota Vikings: Jay Cutler knows all about sitting out during playoff games, he could have done that. More importantly he would know the weapon he has in Percy Harvin.
  13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: One step forward, one step back for Josh Freeman. He didn’t score once against a Saints defense that led the league in yards and points given up.
  14. Arizona Cardinals: Obviously
  15. St. Louis Rams: Sam Bradford was drafted first overall, shouldn’t he be able to dominate a game?

It’s easy for fans to hate on Jay Cutler when the Bears offense hasn’t ranked better than 23rd in the league since he arrived. What many must realize is that no matter what quarterback you put back there you are not going to win unless you have a decent offensive line.  The Bears offensive line allowed 87 quarterback hits, the Broncos, 46.

There is a reason the Bears have fired two offensive coordinators and a head coach in the time Cutler has been there. Maybe now they can learn how to protect him?
