Aaron Rodgers: The Pro Bowl is a circus, sits out
His sentiments haven’t changed, ”After the Pro Bowl experience, the things that happened at the hotel, during the week and then in the game, I just thought was so disappointing,” he told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “Not only myself, the coaching staff that we brought, but to the fans. I mean, I’m sitting there, I bought six tickets as well so I have six people in the stands watching me in the game and I felt I was embarrassed for them so I just felt like it was the right time to say something like that.”
Rodgers will sit out this season’s Pro Bowl, but stated on ESPN it’s not because of his dislike for the game.
According to NFL.com ”I didn’t pass my physical,” said Rodgers, who declined to get into specifics but later mentioned injuries to his ankle, calf and knee.
During an appearance on ESPN Milwaukee, Rodgers said at the time that the NFC players ”embarrassed themselves” (the AFC won 59-41), adding “I feel like there should be some pride involved in a game like that, and I was just surprised by some of the efforts of some of the guys.
Drew Brees even kicked – and shanked – an extra point for the NFC.
While Rodgers has been very critical of the game and style of play, that he didn’t just opt out like some players tells you the kind of person he is.
Sure, it would be nice if players took the Pro Bowl selection more serious as an honor, but NFL stars involved in a circus sounds like a circus I would actually enjoy.
While everyone is entitled to their opinion, some of us like the Pro Bowl just the way it is.
