Why Russell Wilson is a win-win for the Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks are now set at the quarterback position when they picked up Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson in the 3rd round of this years NFL draft. The hawks will go into the 2012 NFL season with quarterbacks Matt Flynn, Tarvaris Jackson, and Russell Wilson, while they will most likely drop Josh Portis.
3 key games the Seahawks need to win in 2012
If the Seattle Seahawks are to make a legitimate run at the NFC West title there are three games they must win this year. The Hawks are in Primetime twice this year, a Week 3 Monday night game against the Green Bay Packers in Seattle and a Week 7 Thursday night game against the 49ers in San Francisco, both of which are games the Seahawks need to win. The other key game is a Week 14 game against the Arizona Cardinals in Seattle.
Is Matt Flynn the guaranteed starter in Seattle?
The Seattle Seahawks may finally have an answer for their QB problem in Matt Flynn, but is he good enough to be handed the starting job? As everyone in Seattle knows, Head Coach Pete Carroll is all about competing for starting jobs, even at the QB position. Some might say that when you pay Matt Flynn 26 million it’s pretty much implied that he is the starter, regardless of what the head coach might say about competition. But is Matt Flynn good enough to be starting QB?
Matt Flynn: Was he worth the risk?
Is Matt Flynn, now of the Seattle Seahawks, worth the 26 million-dollar contract with 10 million guaranteed? Or is it more likely that he will turn out to be what Kevin Kolb was to the Arizona Cardinals this year, a waste of money.
Matt Flynn does have some very impressive credentials. In college he led LSU to National Title game in which the beat Auburn 30-24. He was picked up by Green Bay in the 7th round of the 2008 NFL draft where he backed up Aaron Rodgers for the next four years. In his two starts in the NFL he has nine touchdown passes and has broken Green Bay records for TD passes and passing yards in a game.
Seahawks scoring big in NFL Free Agency
The Seattle Seahawks have had huge scores in free agents this offseason. They resigned Marshawn Lynch and big Red Bryant. Then they picked up DT Jason Jones to help with their inside pass rush and then came their biggest offseason gain so far QB Matt Flynn.
Why Peyton Manning should come to Seattle
There is nothing bigger in the NFL right now than Peyton Manning. Now that he has been released, every team that doesn’t have an all-star QB is licking their chops at the chance to sign him, because if Manning can play at the best of his abilities he can make a bad team good, and an average team into a Super Bowl contender. Peyton knows he has about two good years left in him and in his last few years he will be looking for another Super Bowl ring. And the Seattle Sehawks may be the perfect place to help make that happen.
Steve Largent: Past NFL greats
Steve Largent is an NFL Hall of Famer. He is a legend. He was a field Sargent. He is arguably the greatest Seattle Seahawks player of all time. When he retired he held all the major receiving records. He had 100 TDs, over 13,000 yards, 819 receptions, and had played in 200 games by the end of his legendary career. And up until a few months ago when Cortez Kennedy was inducted he was the only Seahawk to be in the Hall of Fame.
Is Kellen Moore the right choice for the Seahawks?
The quarterback position for the Seattle Seahawks is an obvious need during the 2012 NFL draft, but is Kellen Moore the right choice?
Seattle Seahawks, NFC West: From cellar to stellar?
For the past five years the NFC West has been called the worst division in pro football. They have even received the nickname the NFC worst. Now there is reason for this nickname as two seasons ago the Seattle Seahawks won the division with a 7-9 record. Furthermore the St. Louis Rams have put up terrible seasons the past five years. But with the San Francisco 49ers finally getting hot after such a long layoff and the way the Seahawks ended the 2011 regular season the NFC worst is looking like it could become the NFC best. The Seahawks, 49ers, and Arizona Cardinals all have promising outlooks for next season and all three could very possibly be in the playoffs next year. The Seahawks may have the most promising season ahead of them though.
The Seahawks finished this year with a 7-9 record. Not a very impressive record in the least but it does look a lot better when you realize they started the season off at 2-6. And it looks even better still when you see they beat teams like the Baltimore Ravens and the NFC champion New York Giants. They also almost beat their division rivals the 49ers losing 17-19 in their second matchup with them. The Seahawks had a very rough start to the year but they really heated up once the season reached the half way point.
The Hawks also have some very impressive players on their roster. Beast mode running back Marshawn Lynch racked up 1204 yards in 2011 with 12 rushing TDs to boot. With both of Seattle’s starting receivers injured near the end of the season rookie receiver Doug Baldwin really stepped up to the plate getting 788 yards and four touchdowns. He will be a nice addition to the Seahawks receiving corps that already has Sidney Rice and Mike Williams. Even QB Tarvaris Jackson improved near the end of the year ending the season with 14 touchdown passes although it still might not be a bad idea for the Hawks to look for a QB in the draft. The Seahawks defense ranked 9th in the league as well.
The Seattle Seahawks have all the potential to be a very dangerous threat next year. The have the offensive playmakers and a power defensive. If Seattle could add a nice QB to their ranks there is a very high likelihood that they could be a Super Bowl contender next year. And nothing would make Seattle fans more happy than to see the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.
