Tim Hightower looking to contribute to Redskins cause in 2012
Tim Hightower was the big high profile acquisition by the Washington Redskins in 2011 and the future was certainly looking bright at the running back posistion for the Burgandy and Gold. Hightower got off to a quick start in the preseason and would start in five of the six games that he played in but a torn ACL in a 33-20 loss at the Carolina Panthers put a premature end to his season. Roy Helu and Evan Royster would fill in superbly for Hightower with Helu showing that he was certainly a dual threat back. Hightower recently signed a one year deal with the Skins which means that he will have to contribute in 2012 and that most certainly should happen.
Chris Hanburger: Past NFL great
If you were to ask someone who holds the record for the most Pro Bowl appearances by a Washington Redskin, the first players that would come to mind would be ones like Riggins, Monk, or Green. The answer to that question is middle linebacker Chris Hanburger with nine, #55 who patrolled the defensive backfield for the Redskins his entire career that spanned from 1965 to 1978. Hanburger was small in stature at 6 feet 2 inches and 225 pounds as compared to today’s linebackers but during his day was known as one of the smartest linebackers in the game and was always known for his knack to be on the ball. Hanburger was affectionately called ‘The Hangman’ for his penchant for clothesline tackling.
Redskins get RGIII and address needs in 2012 NFL Draft
The 2012 NFL Draft is over and the Washington Redskins were able to address the needs that they so desperately were seeking. The big story without a doubt was the selection of Robert Griffin III from Baylor with the second overall pick which sets the stage for the Redskins to have their franchise QB for years to come. Dan Snyder and Mike Shannahan though had other picks and other players to select and in the end they were able to come away with some solid talent.
RGIII versus Luck will go down in 2012
Robert Griffin III and Andrew Luck are the new starting quarterbacks of the Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts. Don’t look now but they will be playing each other this season. Both ownerships and front offices of both teams have said that they will be intent with either one. The good thing about that ever so important decision of Jim Irsay and Dan Snyder is that either way, RGIII versus Luck will happen in 2012.
2012 NFL Draft: Looking toward the future with RGIII
One thing that looks for certain with the 2012 NFL Draft this coming Thursday is that Andrew Luck will go number one to the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Redskins will use their number two pick to select the reigning Heisman Trophy winner from Baylor University in QB Robert Griffin III. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported at the end of last week that sources have said that the Colts will indeed select Luck with the first pick which opens up the door for the Skins to select RGIII.
What resigning London Fletcher does for the Redskins
The Washington Redskins have been doling out the free agency money and they showed that last week when they were able to resign MLB London Fletcher. The 37 year old former draft pick of the St. Louis Rams back in 1998, Fletcher has started and played in every game over his 15 year career which amounts to 224 straight games. Fletcher went on his Twitter page last Friday and announced that he and the Redskins have agreed on a two year extension.
RGIII intent on becoming a member of the Washington Redskins
Without a doubt, April 26th will be a very important date for Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. While there have been constant rumors that the Indianapolis Colts and their GM Jim Irsay may go after RGIII, the impression that RGIII has given as of late is that he wants to become a Washington Redskin. NBC Sports was the first to break new news that Robert Griffin has turned down an invitation to conduct a private workout for the Colts and there has also been some reports that have said that RGIII will not conduct any private workouts for any other team, including the Redskins. The impression though has been left and barring any bizarre move by the Colts, Robert Griffin III will be the next quaterback for the Washington Redskins.
NFL rewind: Super Bowl XXVI
It has been 20 years since the Redskins faithful tasted a championship. The third in franchise history and third for Head Coach Joe Gibbs.
Washington Redskins 2012 NFL draft: 30 days and counting
The 2012 NFL Draft will take place April 26-28 and that means that it is just under 30 days and counting until the Washington Redskins find out exactly who they will be picking at the number two spot in the draft order. Dan Snyder and Mike Shannahan made a huge offseason deal, giving up their number one draft pick until the year 2015 in order to move up and get a shot at selecting Robert Griffin III. Stanford QB Andrew Luck is the projected top pick and it should certainly be close between him and RGIII but if something drastic happens and Colts GM Jim Irsay decides to go with Griffin, it would mean that Luck most likely would be coming to DC.
Could Andrew Luck be the next QB for the Washington Redskins?
Could Andrew Luck be the next QB for the Washington Redskins? After Robert Griffin III was able to put on a textbook clinic of a show during his pro day workout for NFL owners and coaches on Wednesday, some insiders left with the impression that there could be a possibility that the Indianapolis Colts may just select RGIII and not the consensus All-American signal caller from Stanford in Luck. While most people are playing it off and are still saying Colts GM Jim Irsay will still go with Luck, there is the possibility there could be a change of mind and if it were to happen what would the Redskins do next?
Josh Morgan: Player Profile
One of the big free agent wide receivers that the Washington Redskins were able to sign last week was Josh Morgan formerly of the San Francisco 49ers. Morgan is coming off an injury year in 2011 as he was placed on injured reserve after starting the first five games of the year. Morgan has rebounded and is looking to make 2012 his breakout season.
What will the Redskins offense look like with RGIII at the helm?
It is official. Washington Redskins GM Bruce Allen has announced that a deal with the Redskins and the St. Louis Rams has been made that will allow the Redskins to move up to the second pick in this year’s NFL Draft. The Redskins will give up their first round pick in 2012, 2013, and 2014 along with a second rounder in 2012 in exchange for the second pick in this year’s draft which is currently held by the St. Louis Rams and their newly acquired head coach in Jeff Fisher.
Every pundit and follower in the NFL pretty much know that the Redskins intend on using that second pick in order to draft the reigning Heisman Trophy winner out of Baylor University in Robert Griffin III. The 6 foot 3 inch, 225 pound QB has been said to have more potential than the projected top pick in QB Andrew Luck of Stanford and the Redskins are banking on that, hoping that he will be their quarterback of the future.
