Wes Welker not bitter with Patriots
Denver Broncos wide receiver, Wes Welker, was in Boston last night taking questions before attending the Bruins game.
When asked if he felt the New England Patriots undervalued him during free agency he replied “Unfortunately, it’s the business side of football and as a player you understand it. So, you just move on and look toward the future.”
Welker said all the right things according to the Boston Herald, including all the right things about his former quarterback, Tom Brady.
“No, I don’t think I ever said that he was angry,” Welker said of Brady. “I think, obviously we’re really good friends, and so any time you lose a friend from your team like we’ve had over the past couple years, you’re upset about it. But I never said he was angry.”
Both continue to speak but did take a minute to talk about Peyton Manning compared to Brady. “They’re both professionals. It’s obvious that they’re the best in the game and you get to see why they are the best: the way they study; the way they prepare and get ready. It speaks volumes to why they are successful.”
Fans for the most part reacted positively to the return of Welker to the area, but when he comes back to New England during the regular season in a Broncos uniform, it may be a different scenario.
