Ever heard of the University of Regina? Well, me either, but defensive tackle Stefan Charles is a beast at 6’4 and 328lbs for the Tennessee Titans and attended the school. I think it’s safe to say with a good preseason, Zach Clayton and DaJohn Harris could be on the outside looking in.
Charles might look the part of a defensive tackle, but he has never actually played against top-notch players. The reason the University of Regina doesn’t ring a bell, the University is actually a Canadian establishment.
His numbers, for a defensive tackle are impressive in the games he did play. In three years he played 22 games and had 20.5 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, and 3 fumbles forced.
His size and strength are obviously an advantage, but without the proper competition, just how good can Charles be?
It’s much like the debate of players and their level of competition from the SEC to players in the Mountain West who have less. Can a player from the Canadian league come into the NFL and earn a spot? Sure, it’s been done before, but it’s no easy task.
