Dolphins’ rookie unexpectedly shining in camp
The importance of a shutdown corner can’t be overestimated in today’s pass-happy NFL, but what about a corner who specializes in turning the ball over?
According to the MiamiHerald.com Dolphins’ Head Coach Joe Philbin said, “He had his hand on the ball eight times [Thursday] maybe, that leads you to believe he had a very good practice. That’s one of the measuring sticks we’re looking at in our defensive backs — guys who can make a play on the ball. I’m sure there’s a lot of technique things he has to work on.”
Will Davis has deflected more than 10 passes so far in camp and also dropped two more interceptions during practice on Thursday.
“Everything is starting to click,” he said. “Definitely a good day. When the game slows down for you, you are able to make more plays. That’s happening for me now.” said the Rookie.
Sure, it’s only training camp, but during these practices and upcoming preseason games there is a limited time for a young player to shine.
Shine is exactly what Will Davis is doing, but will it continue into the preseason and could he earn a starting spot?
