A little Luck over Flacco
The question on everyone’s mind right now (except in Baltimore ), is Joe Flacco worth the contract? Going through the list of quarterbacks currently, I can think of a handful of quarterbacks I would pay more than Flacco. This list includes guys like: Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton, RGIII, and Andrew Luck.
Yes, Andrew Luck is placed a little higher in my book.
I’m writing this not looking at any stats. I’m just going by pure perception and gut feeling.
When I think of the position of quarterback, “leader” quickly comes to mind. All these players in the list are leaders. I highly question Flacco’s leadership.
Flacco does a great job of maintaining games and not losing them.
That being said, the guys on this list win games, plain and simple. They all also have the God given ability to make players around them better. They are Michael Jordan, for lack of a better comparison. Nobody did more or got more out of their teammates than Andrew Luck. No doubt about it. No way to argue that. It’s black and white. The scary thing is, no matter how good he was this past year; he is only going to get better. Flacco got hot in the playoffs after struggling the last few weeks of the regular season. His receiving core bailed him out in most of the playoff games. For example, Anquan Boldin beat the Colts pretty much by himself and Jacoby Jones caught a fluke in Denver . The fact is, Flacco’s teammates make him look better and Andrew Luck makes his teammates better. Please ask Reggie Wayne.
So yes, I would take Andrew Luck over Joe Flacco, with confidence, right now. Luck has “IT”, and only the greats have it. It’s this guy’s opinion that Flacco just needs to take the money and run, and consider himself “Lucky”.
