2012 Mock Draft: NFC East edition

2012 NFL Draft 2012 Mock Draft: NFC East editionWelcome to the second Divisional Mock Draft where this week I will feature the NFC East, and the AFC North. It was an interesting season for the NFC East, as the Philadelphia Eagles were expected to be a Super Bowl contender but fell flat after their big spending spree. The Dallas Cowboys were once again plagued by not being able to play well when it mattered most, while the Washington Redskins were still the Redskins despite showing bright spots throughout the season. While the New York Giants finished the season 9-7 and went on to win their second Super Bowl in five seasons and Eli Manning became elite.

Now with the off-season coming up there are questions to be answered, will the Eagles learn their lesson and keep their money in their pocket this time around or will they once again go on a spending spree. Will the Cowboys make the right moves to finally get over the hump? Will Dan Snyder spend big money on Peyton Manning or trade away the entire 2012 Draft for Robert Griffin? What can the Giants do to be back in the Super Bowl next season, and much more will be answered in the next two months.

Washington Redskins:

Round 1, Pick 2: Robert Griffin QB Baylor: I did say there would be no trades but I just can’t help this one. I believe Washington will make a move for a Quarterback and it will be Robert Griffin, not Peyton Manning. The Redskins can not afford to go into the season with Rex Grossman and John Beck as both are not franchise quarterbacks as evidenced by last season. Can Griffin finally give Washington a franchise quarterback to build around?

Round 2, Pick 39: None. Washington gave up this pick to St. Louis in order to acquire Robert Griffin.

Dallas Cowboys:

Round 1, Pick 14: Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama: The Cowboys secondary needs improving and Kirkpatrick falls due to his arrest. Kirkpatrick is talented enough to where if he keeps out of trouble he will be a great corner in the NFL. Their secondary needs multiple improvements and this is just one of them, they can focus on a safety in the second round.

Round 2, Pick 45: Ronnell Lewis OLB Oklahoma: Anthony Spencer is a Free Agent and will need to be replaced if he happens to leave for another team. Even if they Franchise him, it is only for a year and they need someone opposite of DeMarcus Ware.

Philadelphia Eagles:

Round 1, Pick 15: Luke Kuechly LB Boston College: This is an obvious need and is the best player available. The Eagles defense was bad last season and their line backing core was part of the reason. Now I know Andy Reid doesn’t like taking a linebacker in round one but that is what everyone said about Jerry Jones never taking an offensive lineman in the first round last April. If the Eagles want to get back to the playoffs, drafting Luke will help them do so.

Round 2, Pick 46: Jerel Worthy DT Michigan: Eagles continue adding defensive help and this time focus on their defensive line.

Round 2, Pick 51: Brock Osweiler QB Arizona State: Well here’s a surprise, the Eagles take a quarterback in the second round. Brock is someone to watch at the scouting combine as his stock will rise due to the number of teams needing a quarterback. Brock I believe will be a late first round pick in April as he has great size(6’8) and had great arm strength. He will remind scouts of Ben Roethlisberger.

New York Giants:

Round 1, Pick 32: Dwayne Allen TE Clemson: How can you improve upon a team who just won the Super Bowl? Give them more offensive help, Jake Ballard is ok but certainly can be upgraded. Giving Eli Manning another weapon to play with on offense would make their offense scarier.

Round 2, Pick 64: Kelechi Osemele G Iowa State: David Diehl is owed $8 Million over the next two seasons and will most likely be a cap causality this off-season. The Giants can add his replacement right here at the bottom of round two. They get two fabulous players at the bottom of the first two rounds and will be set for a repeat.

I like it ALOT but I think its a little more on what those teams want I dont see the Skins or Gmen getting what they want lol.

But hey if NY gets a TE and O-line in the first 2 rounds ill be a happy man. Plus they should be looking at a 2nd rounder when they trade Osi
